DPS
DATA, PRODUCTS & SOCIETY INTEGRATED FACILITY (IF)
The Data, Products and Society (DPS) Integrated Facility of the South African Polar Research Infrastructure (SAPRI) was established in November 2022.
It aims to bring together the SAPRI Data Centre, the various types of generated data and downstream products, including modelling and the societal outreach programme.

SAPRI DATA CENTRE
The SAPRI Data Centre aims to provide integrated and secure access to the RIs’ data following the principles of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) so that data collected in the polar and South African marine regions are made available and accessible to all to ensure their full reuse potential. PRODUCTS
SAPRI aims to offer detailed digital representation of the large physical infrastructures utilised within the South African marine and polar research environment and managed by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Furthermore, dissemination of downstream data products (observational and model-based products) is key to maximise the widespread use and impact of data. SOCIETY
SAPRI aims for capacity building in marine and polar research for transformation and societal awareness. This involves the continuation and consolidation of the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa (ALSA) project. Also, SAPRI aims to supply a platform and support for Humanities and Social Sciences studies in polar research. To read more, click on the button above.
