The South African Polar Research Infrastructure (SAPRI) was honoured to receive the Certificate of Excellent Exhibition in recognition of its exhibition and contribution to the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (DSTI) inaugural National Science Month launch, held on 4 July at Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng.
SAPRI is one of the Department’s research infrastructures established through the South African Research Infrastructure Roadmap (SARIR) and is hosted by the NRF-SAEON Egagasini Node.
National Science Month (NSM) is an annual initiative led by South Africa’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) to promote public awareness, appreciation, and engagement with science, technology, and innovation.
The certificate recognises how SAPRI’s exhibition embodied the National Science Month theme, “Science, Technology and Innovation is for Everyone.” Through innovative, interactive displays and engaging conversations, SAPRI made marine and polar science accessible to a diverse audience, inspiring curiosity and fostering meaningful public engagement.
